VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT (Required)
I

requiring each family to
perform twenty-five (25) volunteer hours, 5 of which must be completed during
the January Test/Competition weekend. (NOTE:
Limited Synchro Membership and Associate Members are required to perform
10 volunteer hours for the VFSC). I know that volunteer opportunity

online at our club website (www.vfsclub.com),
and/or by contacting the VFSC Volunteer Coordinator, Board Members, and/or
Committee Chairs (names and phone numbers to be posted at the ice arenas and/or
on the club website). It is MY
responsibility to contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Board Members and/or
Committee Chairs to arrange my (or members of my family) volunteer hours.
The VFSC
2009-10 Volunteer Coordinator is Kendra Weindling – (920) 731-2246.
Twenty-five (25) hours of
volunteer time must be fulfilled before June 30, 2010, 5 of which must be
completed during the January Test/Competition weekend. I understand that unfulfilled volunteer hours
will be charged to my account at a rate of $10.00 per hour and I (or members of

Every
member who is using club ice, either contracted or as a walk-on, will be
required to play music a specified number of times during each contract
period. The number of required hours
will be determined by the number of hours in each contract and the number of
skaters using the ice.
EXCEPTION:
Members
who never use club ice, even as a walk-on, will not be required to play music,
but they can if they would like to use it as a way to earn some volunteer
hours. HOWEVER, if a skater’s family
does not sign up to play music, and their skater does use club ice even one
time, they will be required to play music during the next contract period, even
if they are not planning on using club ice during that contract.
Prior to the beginning of each contract period, the volunteer coordinator will contact all club members via e-mail to let them know how many hours they are required to sign up for during the upcoming contract period. You may sign up for more hours than required if you want to use this as a way to get your volunteer hours. Members will be given the opportunity to sign up for the hours they prefer on a “first come, first served” basis. After all members have been given an opportunity to sign up, those who have not signed up will be filled in randomly to complete the schedule. The volunteer coordinator does not have the contracts when doing this, so there is no way to guarantee that members will be assigned to sessions that their skater is skating. The volunteer coordinator will make every effort to schedule members as evenly as possible so that one family does not have more of a burden than any other family. Frequently, the number of hours needed and the number of skaters using club ice will not be exactly even, but the volunteer coordinator will try to even it out as much as possible throughout the year. Each family will be expected to play music equally to all other families, regardless of how many skaters they have in their family or how often their skaters use club ice.
POLICY REGARDING “NO SHOWS” for
Music Monitoring:
1. If a parent doesn't show up for their
assigned session AND if their skater is on the ice, the skater will be asked to
leave the ice by a board member, in order to act as music monitor for that
assigned session. If the skater is not familiar with playing music, one of the
board members on site, will educate the skater. For contracted skaters, this
missed session CAN NOT be made up.
2. If a parent
doesn't show up for their assigned session AND the skater is NOT on the ice,
the member will be billed $20.00 for not showing up. The member will be
responsible for paying this fee in full or they will not remain in good
standing with the VFSC. A member not in "good standing" has unpaid,
past due bills and is not allowed to walk-on or contract ice until their bill
is paid in full.
3. Notification:
Kathy McCord will be the Board Member responsible for contacting the assigned
family to notify them of the situation. She will contact the family either via
email and/or phone. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy via phone
at 920-216-1254 or email kjm1@new.rr.com
Please contact the volunteer
coordinator with any questions you have regarding this requirement.

VALLEY FIGURE SKATING CLUB RULES AND PROCEDURES (Required)
The following rules and
procedures were adopted by the VFSC Board of Directors to promote and
atmosphere conducive to training as well as allow for the safety of each
skater. The rules must be followed by
both skaters and pros in order to be effective:
1. All music
monitors and pros are authorized to determine admission, monitor conduct on the
ice and enforce rules.
2. Skaters must
sign-in BEFORE they get on the ice
and between contiguous sessions. If a
skater is not checked in within ten (10) minutes after the session begins,
their slot may be resold to another skater.
3. Admission to
be determined in the following order: 1) Contracted skaters who have signed
in. 2) Club members on a first come,
first served basis. 3) All other skaters
on a first come, first served basis.
(Note: for example – if a member
skater forgets to sign into the black book, and there are more than 22 skaters
on the ice. The skater that did not sign
into the book will be asked to get off the ice, regardless of whether or not
they are contracted – SKATERS MUST
REMEMBER TO SIGN IN. For skaters not
contracted, they must record the time
that they arrive at the rink upon signing in.
4. Skaters may be
removed from the ice for any of the following:
1) intentionally damaging the surface of the ice. 2) Consistent lack of consideration for other
skaters. 3) Offensive, abusive or
profane language. 4) Wild or rough
skating. 5) Disrespectful actions
towards pros, ice monitors, other skaters or arena personnel.
5. Consumption of
food/snacks/beverages on ice or near boards is prohibited; the only exception
is water bottles and must be kept back in the hockey boxes away from the ice
surface. Keep all personal items such as
tissue boxes, notebooks, music, apparel clear of ice surfaces and/or access
areas for safety of all and remove them after each session.
6. Be considerate
in the use of the ice: consideration for
‘right of way’ on the ice as follows: 1) skaters doing their program to music
(wear blaze orange vest), 2) skaters
having lessons, 3) skaters in the harness.
Practicing a program is critical to skating development; therefore, all
pros and skaters should be aware of who has the right of way. Anyone, including pros, who ignore these
rules and procedures will first receive a warning and then be suspended from
the session.
7. The club will assign a music monitor for each session
where music is played. Program CDs will be
played by the music monitor. The skate
order is the order is in which skaters arrive out on the ice and put their CD
in line. If a
skater skips their turn when called, the CD will be placed at the end of the
line. Pro-Call Policy:
One pro-call per coach per session for either dance or freestyle music, not both, until all CDs have been played
once. Only one pro-call can bump any
tape in line. A pro-call cannot bump a
skater in a lesson. The skater’s CD(s) from
the pro-call go to the end of the line.
Dance Partner for test session practices may have up to 2 pro calls for
each student but will forfeit their freestyle music turn for that session. Any
abuse of Music Monitors will be cause for skater to lose their turn in line.
8.
A skater must wear the blaze orange vest when their CD is being
played. The skater whose music is being
played has the right-of-way, although safety is the first priority. The skater on deck may warm-up with the blaze
orange vest on. We have a NO VEST…NO
MUSIC policy, so if do not have the blaze orange vest on and your music is
playing, your music may be stopped and you will forfeit your turn in line for
music being played. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
9. Avoid
congregating on the ice during ice time; this is a hazard to all skaters; step
off the ice for discussion of instruction, re-tying of skates, chatting etc.
10. Pros should
instruct from the board area. Exception
is teaching a new program or demonstrating elements.
11. All
video-taping must be done from the boards.
12. Skaters who
are not current with their fees will not be allowed on the ice as per VFSC
Bylaws.
13. Skaters who
have not signed the liability waiver will not be allowed on the ice.
14. Skaters who
are not current USFS members will not be allowed on the ice during “VFSC time”.
15. Please leave
the ice promptly when the Zamboni doors open for resurfacing, and/or buzzer
sounds.
16. Ice Monitor /
Admission concerns should be addressed to a VFSC Board Member for resolution.
17. Any grievances
should be brought to the VFSC Board of Directors.
